Birdhouses in Upper Gardens near house
My goal to keep our land as natural as possible usually comes about. Once in a while I will throw in a surprise here and there to draw attention to something or just lighten up an area or put a smile on your soul. Here in the above picture I could not resist these bright colored houses to do all three, giving you the feeling of wow, look at that! ^_^
A ceramic house is more for looks because it is too warm inside when the sun shines. Birds won't build in them most times. This ceramic birdhouse below, I did at a class that I took.
A recent purchase sits on a bench in the Fairy Garden. The next two birdhouses are on the posts that fence in my vegetable garden.
This one sits in the corn crib with the peacocks just as a decoration. The long red white and blue looks like our USA flag.
Some are old, some are made by grand kids, some I just found in rummage sales or craft shops.

This round one was made by my father's old friend who was a carpenter. |

Here one sits on the old outhouse with an antique metal bench below it. The pan of tomatoes is from my vegetable garden. Above the metal bench is an orange metal sign with Dream cut into it by Dick and his plasma cutter. The outhouse I use to store my garden tools, and other things I use in the gardens like metal plant supports.

The Antique Martin birdhouse was found at a flea market and brought home. In the above picture you can see it is near the Bless gate arch Dick made me out of metal art he does. On the right you can see a close up that shows the hole in the middle section chewed larger by a squirrel.
My favorite is a wooden cat birdhouse that sits in my fairy garden. Yesterday I strolled around the many gardens and took pictures. I never noticed what was in the cats opening in its belly until I came back to take more pictures of the flowers. Look real close you can see its eyes peaking out.
It is a tree frog which changes colors to what ever it sits on. They are tiny, tiny frogs and make the neatest sounds. It took me a couple years to finely discover it was the tree frog and not a bird or some other critter.
In the fairy garden there is a white soldier a friend gave me and one year a robin came and made a nest in the head. She hatched out three babies and comes back every year to have another family. Below is a close up of the nest in the head.

This birdhouse I bought new and my daughter painted it which is quit faded now. On the bench that is sits on is a ceramic frog that was in a set of three, see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. This little speak no evil is the only one left.
I try and keep my birdhouses so they fit into the setting of each garden. It is fun to turn a corner and discover them here and there scattered amongst the many flowers. Many of them are in the fairy garden where I tried to make it fun and innocent, like we all were when we were children.
It reminds me to stay childlike in my mind, seeing no evil, hearing no evil and yes speaking no evil. Enjoying God's creation, taking good care of it and keeping it in as good shape for the next generation as when I received it.
Peace to you all.......
